Base curve BC	Base Curve (a number between 8.0 and 10.0). This is the inside curve of your contact lens (e.g., 8.0, 8.1, 8.2, etc.). Base Curve is often written as ”BC” or ”BOZR” in your prescription or on the contact lens box. Many contact lenses come in only one base curve, many others in only two base curves, some come in multiple base curves so care must be taken when ordering. If your box or prescription says MEDIAN instead of a number for base curve choose 8.5, 8.6 or 8.7 only.

Cylinder Cyl	Cylinder is a lens parameter for people that need correction for Astigmatism. Cylinder (a number between -4.00 and +4.00). This is the strenght of your astigmatism (e.g.,-0.75, -1.00, -1.25, etc.). Cylinder is often written as ”CYL” or ”ZYL” in your prescription or on the contact lens box. Cylinder and Axis are usually separated by ”x” and read as ”times” (example: -0.75x160). The lenses that correct astigmatism are called ”TORIC” contact lenses.
Axis As	Axis is a lens parameter for people that need correction for Astigmatism. Axis is number between 0 and 180 (note that 0 = the same as 180). This is the orientation of your astigmatism (e.g., 180, 160, 90, etc.). Axis is often written as ”AX” or ”X” in your prescription or on the contact lens box. Cylinder and Axis are usually separated by ”x” and read as ”times” (example: -0.75x160). The lenses that correct astigmatism are called ”TORIC” contact lenses.

Esencia Toric - the quarterly replacement contact lenses made with hydrogel which slow down and correct the myopia and astigmatism of your children. It's a customized contact lens for the correction and control of the myopia in children and teenagers, and it also corrects astigmatism.

ESENCIA Toric should be used by children whose myopia is still on its growth phase. In other words, these are users whose myopic graduation grows every year.
In common terms myopia is stablished in Young ages (6-8 years old) and it keeps growing until teenage although slower growth patterns can eventually be found.
Taking all this into account, ESENCIA should be used in kidsover 5 or 6 years oldand untiltheir myopia stops growing.

Esencia is a quarterly contact lens for the control of myopia from Tiedra laboratory, which slows its progression through a peripheral and multifocal defocus design that allows a correct distance vision and prevents the increase in eye growth -axial length- which is partly responsible for the increase in myopia.

The recommendations for this quarterly contact lens is a wearing time of 8 to 10 hours a day at most, but it is always the optometrist who fits the contact lens who determines the wearing time for the end user based on the capacity of his eyes to wear the contact lens, through different parameters and tear quality.

Essence replacement is done quarterly, so it is very important to note the date when it is time to replace contact lenses on the calendar and not to extend the use of contact lenses.
